Celebrity fan websites done right: Zachary Quinto

July 28th, 2009 by Julie Delaforce · 6 Comments

Zachary Quinto CommunityWhilst checking on my Facebook news feed this morning, I saw a link from the Zachary Quinto fan page to his new community. I already knew that Quinto was active on social media, so was intrigued to take a look and see what his community is all about.

Launched only a few hours ago (27 July USA time), the Zach Quinto Community is something akin to Facebook, a stream of his other social network accounts, with fans able to join, create an avatar and profile, comment and add their own posts to the stream. It’s very simple, and yet a very effective way for fans to keep an eye on what Quinto is up to and be able to interact with him. The community is hosted neatly within the Zachary Quinto Website.

Quinto’s other social media endeavours are also working well. He’s on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and YouTube (as a co-founder of Before The Door productions). Of course, it’s not enough just to create accounts on every social network out there. Quinto (or perhaps his minions) do an excellent job of keeping in touch with fans not only in the form of status updates, but also by sharing photos and videos.

A job very well done.

Have you seen any other celebrities who are doing a great job in social media?

Checked it out. Really well done social site that is all about sharing with fans. From reading the threads and posts, his fans are really involved and it’s great to see a community where followers can share, chat and have such intimate access to a star like Zach

i’ve just become a member of the ZQ community (would have joined sooner but was AFK since Friday). So far I’m loving it, and before that was an avid commenter to the regular news posts.

Another Celebrity I also think gets it right is “Weird Al” Yankovic. Or at least his Twitter page, which he constantly uploads with photos of his daily routine, news about what he’s up to (musically and not) and is also just fun to read. Probably one of my favorite celebrity Twitter sites so far.

I’m a member of the community, and let me say that not only is it cool to have the kind of access that he allows us to have, but what a wonderful group of people to sit around and chat with! All of the (mostly) women that I’ve messaged back and forth with have been excellent. It’s just nice to have such a positive area. Thanks for spreading the word. Also, if you’re a Zachary Quinto fan, vote for him on 2 forums Twitter: http://tweeterwall.mallplace.com/tw/usa/mr-twitter and EW http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20153312_20153316_20290204,00.html

Thank you to Julie Delaforce and Fresh Chat for the great article. ZacharyQuinto.com is a place that we created for the fans to connect with Zach and with each other. A great deal of what we do is powered by TypePad, from Six Apart. The people at Six Apart have been instrumental in making this site what it is.

Zachary Quinto is an attention whore. I don’t know why no one has noticed.

Still ridiculously hot, just an attention whore.
